Gaza Man Requests Binance to Unfreeze His $30K Funds

As Gaza continues to face severe shortage of food and supplies after a year of the Israel-Hamas conflict, a man from the region has turned to social media, pleading with Binance exchange to release his $30,000 stuck on the platform.

The man, identified as Mohammed, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on October 4, 2024, asking for the release of his frozen funds. He wrote, “Hi Binance, it has been one year since you locked my $30,000, all my savings, and shared my data with Israel. Can you give me my money back? I need them so badly.”

Binance had frozen several Palestinian accounts on August 28, 2024, due to alleged links to illegal funds. However, Binance co-founder Yi He clarified that only a few accounts were impacted, emphasizing that the exchange adheres to international anti-money laundering laws, similar to other financial institutions. Yi He also expressed hopes for peace in the region.

The post from Mohammed highlights the financial struggles many Gaza residents are facing, and his plea has gained attention on social media, with users urging Binance to respond.

While Binance customer support has acknowledged his message, it remains unclear whether any action has been taken to resolve his issue. Many are waiting to see if his appeal will lead to his funds being released.
