Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has once again held his hand out to help the community members. Buterin has made a hefty donation of 50 ETH to support Alexey Pertsev, a developer embroiled in legal battles over Tornado Cash.
Tornado Cash, a tool designed to enhance crypto privacy and allow users to anonymize their Ethereum transactions, has been at the center of controversy due to its potential for misuse in money laundering.
Alexey Pertsev, one of its developers, now faces a legal conundrum, charged with facilitating such activities. His case has become a litmus test for the crypto community’s stance on privacy versus regulatory oversight.
To help Alexy Pertsev in these difficult times, Vitalik made the donation to the support campaign started on Juicebox, a decentralized crowdfunding platform. As of now, the Support Alexey Pertsev campaign has raised 184.48 ETH, thanks to many other supporters.

This isn’t Buterin’s first charitable act. He previously made headlines by donating over $1 billion worth of SHIB meme coins to the India Covid Relief Fund in 2021, one of the largest individual crypto donations ever recorded. He also contributed around $5 million in ETH to support Ukraine during the Russian invasion.
