Bitcoin Magazine Books launches 333-copy Genesis Collector Edition for 3rd anniversary

Bitcoin Magazine Books launched a third-anniversary campaign on Friday for Aaron van Wirdum’s The Genesis Book, introducing a redesigned Collector’s Edition capped at 333 hand-signed and individually numbered hardcovers packaged within an exclusive Genesis Block slipcase.

Every Collector’s Edition hardcover features a signature and number written by hand from van Wirdum, the former editor-in-chief of Bitcoin Magazine whose work explores the individuals, projects, and concepts that laid the groundwork for Satoshi Nakamoto’s peer-to-peer cash architecture. Costing $221, the standard package includes the book alongside a limited trading card featuring a Certificate of Authenticity, a collector pin, a sticker sheet, the slipcase, and a digital bundle.

Two special one-of-one tiers exist outside the standard numerical sequence. The #1 edition carries a $5,000 price tag, while the #21 edition is set at $2,500; both bundles contain their corresponding numbered book, a matching one-of-one collector card, and the same bonus accessories found in the standard tier.

According to the campaign FAQ, standard collector numbers are allocated in the order purchases are made beginning at #2, while bypassing #21. The campaign notes that once preorders conclude, this signed Genesis print run will never be printed again.

What ships with the anniversary editions

Alongside the signed print run, Bitcoin Magazine Books is offering a Premium Edition hardcover priced at $160, featuring foil stamping, a ribbon bookmark, stained page edges, and custom endsheets. Unlike the collector tier, this version is unlimited, unsigned, unnumbered, lacks a slipcase, and omits the extra collector accessories and digital files.

Priced at $9.99, a standalone Digital Package provides immediate access to the ebook in EPUB format and the audiobook in MP4 following purchase, regardless of whether the physical campaign reaches its funding target.

Fulfillment for physical collector and premium orders is planned for the 2027 calendar year.

Van Wirdum, who encountered bitcoin back in 2013 and subsequently directed editorial operations at Bitcoin Magazine, describes The Genesis Book as an account of the computer scientists, privacy advocates, and alternative economists who pursued decentralized digital currency long before the 2008 white paper dropped—tracing roots from early cypherpunk movements to initiatives like David Chaum’s ecash, Wei Dai’s b-money, Adam Back’s Hashcash, and Hal Finney’s reusable proof of work.

Store photos displaying the slipcase and accompanying accessories are conceptual digital renderings, and the campaign page cautions that production models might feature differences in color, materials, and finishes. BTC Inc., the publisher of Bitcoin Magazine, manages the campaign.
