Cryptocurrency card transactions reach record $12.5B amid stablecoin boom

Data from paymentscan.xyz, initially highlighted by The Kobeissi Letter, reveals that crypto card payment volume has surged to an all-time high of $12.5 billion, marking a 140% increase year-to-date.

This milestone additionally represents a 247% jump compared to transaction levels observed in October 2025.

According to The Kobeissi Letter, this sharp upward trend is propelled by the expanding utilization of stablecoins for payments alongside an increased demand for more rapid, cost-effective cross-border transfers.

Another area showing strong performance is QR-code transactions. Driven by demand for QR-based spending, Jupiter Spend—a prominent on-chain card issuer—saw its active cards grow by 55% quarter-over-quarter.

“Crypto cards are the next phase of crypto adoption,” noted The Kobeissi Letter.

These statistics coincide with significant industry expansions into crypto card offerings. Earlier this year, Fold Holdings (NASDAQ: FLD) began rolling out its Fold Bitcoin Credit Card to select members on a waitlist, with broader distribution scheduled in batches moving forward.

Operating on the Visa network and powered by Stripe Issuing, this card is welcome at 175 million merchants. It delivers a 1.5% foundational bitcoin cash-back rate, which can reach up to 4% via behavioral incentives and partner deals, plus an additional 0.5% back for users settling their bills in bitcoin.

Conversely, Aven has introduced a distinct model with its Aven Bitcoin Visa Card, introduced at the Bitcoin Conference 2026 held in Las Vegas. This product allows users to secure lines of credit up to $1 million backed by their bitcoin holdings without liquidating them, featuring APRs beginning at 7.99% and repayment schedules stretching up to 10 years.

BitGo manages the underlying collateral, and Coastal Community Bank acts as the card issuer.
