While quantum computers are operational, they are prone to errors, and a machine capable of breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography is not yet a reality. Bitcoin presently stands as the largest computer network globally.
Prominent industry firms—such as Blockstream (a Bitcoin infrastructure company) and Coinbase (America’s leading crypto exchange)—are actively developing remedies.
In July, Coinbase announced its intention to introduce a post-quantum signing pipeline utilizing secure enclaves and threshold cryptography.

The group contributes financial resources and assigns engineers to open-source initiatives supporting measures such as BIP-360, which seeks to add a fresh transaction output type to mitigate long-exposure quantum computing vulnerabilities.
