Bitcoin Unfazed by Trump’s Iran Threats

Amid escalating Middle East tensions, Bitcoin remained completely steady on Monday, showing virtually no reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats of severe retaliation against Iran.

The leading cryptocurrency was recently valued at $79,076, recording no change over a 24-hour window and holding flat compared to its price from seven days prior.

Two weeks ago, Bitcoin kicked off a remarkable rally—its strongest performance in three years—and boasts a gain of nearly 30% over the past month.

This upward momentum was sparked by the U.S. Treasury’s plan to at least double its liquidity-support buyback operations. While that move negatively impacted the dollar, non-yielding assets such as gold and Bitcoin experienced gains.

Favorable regulatory developments have additionally supported Bitcoin throughout the month. Last week, President Donald Trump described the anticipated crypto Clarity Act as a “very, very powerful” bill and pressed legislators to pass it.

The Clarity Act seeks to create a regulatory framework that classifies digital assets as securities, commodities, or payment stablecoins—a policy long advocated by the cryptocurrency sector.

Additionally, renewed investor enthusiasm for exchange-traded funds this month has bolstered Bitcoin’s valuation. Between August 17 and 27, market participants poured more than $2.8 billion into these investment products, marking the highest volume since October.

After climbing as high as $81,281 last week, Bitcoin experienced a pullback on Friday.

Historically throughout the year, geopolitical conflict has negatively impacted Bitcoin’s price, with the cryptocurrency often dropping on reports of war and recovering on expectations of a ceasefire.

When the U.S. and Israel initially struck Iran in February, the digital currency plummeted, and its performance remained unstable following reports of military conflict in March and April.

However, analysts note that Bitcoin’s volatility has quieted down in recent months. Monday followed this subdued pattern as the asset ignored President Trump’s vow to strike Iran once again.

Military strikes between the U.S. and Iran resumed on Sunday, marking the first exchange in over a month.

“We’re going to hit them hard,” President Trump stated to a Fox News reporter on Monday.
