Strategy and Strive Purchase $182.7M in Bitcoin as Price Tops $86,000

Bitcoin treasuries started the week with strong momentum as Strategy and Strive collectively disclosed the acquisition of 2,305 BTC for a total of $182.7 million.

According to a regulatory filing, Strategy acquired 950 bitcoins for $75.7 million during the previous week—marking its initial purchase since August—while Strive secured 1,355 BTC for $107.7 million.

This disclosure coincides with a significant rally for the leading cryptocurrency. Bitcoin recently traded at $86,008, reflecting a 6% increase over 24 hours, after peaking at $86,282 earlier in the day on Monday.

As the largest corporate holder of bitcoin, Strategy also bought back $174 million of its STRC perpetual preferred shares. The firm had previously paused its cryptocurrency acquisitions this year to focus on stock repurchases and cash reserve accumulation.

During that period, the organization occasionally liquidated small portions of its BTC reserves—deviating from founder and chairman Michael Saylor’s well-known mantra to “never sell your bitcoin.”

Following a 10-week pause, the company resumed purchasing bitcoin in the final week of August, acquiring nearly $370 million worth of the leading digital asset.

The firm’s total bitcoin reserves now reach 846,000 coins, valued at $72.7 billion at current market prices.

Meanwhile, Strive has maintained a weekly purchasing schedule, steadily climbing the corporate bitcoin holder rankings. The Nasdaq-listed firm now ranks as the fifth-largest corporate owner of the cryptocurrency, holding 26,355 BTC valued at $2.2 billion.

Strategy shares (NASDAQ: MSTR) advanced 8% during Monday’s trading session. Strive shares (NASDAQ: ASST) experienced a slight decline, though the stock surpassed $30 per share on Friday, exceeding most Wall Street analyst targets.

Corporate bitcoin holders have faced a challenging 2026. Entities such as Strategy, Satsuma, Smarter Web Company, Sequans, Nakamoto, and Empery Digital have all liquidated bitcoin holdings this year to service debt, support operations, or fund share buybacks, while others have shut down or shifted toward AI infrastructure amid plunging share prices.

Monday’s cryptocurrency rally occurred despite the recent blockage of the Clarity Act, a major piece of crypto legislation, last week. Additionally, investors brushed off a rate hike implemented by the Federal Reserve.

The digital asset’s current valuation remains over 30% below its record peak of $126,080 reached in October.
