VerifiedX Launches $15 Million Financing Round to Deploy Institutional Bitcoin Infrastructure
VerifiedX (verifiedx.io), operating as the programmable financial operating system tailored for Bitcoin and intelligent assets, has revealed that its Foundation has initiated a $15 million financing round, with initial institutional backers already committing funds. This early capital will directly support the rollout of VerifiedX’s institutional Bitcoin distribution.
Acting as the investment banking partner for this financing is Cantor Fitzgerald. At this stage, the Foundation has opted not to reveal the names of the initial investors or the specific terms of the agreements.
A portion of the raised funds is designated for broadening custody partnerships, including work with BitGo—a digital-asset custodian listed on the New York Stock Exchange. BitGo will safeguard vBTC (the Bitcoin-collateralized token from VerifiedX) alongside vBTC.b, its corresponding asset on Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, Base. Because BitGo serves as a qualified custodian, registered investment advisers are permitted by U.S. custody rules to keep client assets there.
Additional capital will be directed toward exchange listings. Tier-one centralized platforms are set to list both vBTC and VFX (the native token of VerifiedX), with the first formal announcement anticipated in the coming weeks. Furthermore, the round supports borrowing and lending initiatives, providing facilities that allow holders to borrow against their Bitcoin or earn a return by lending it out, all without relinquishing ownership or sacrificing redemption rights.
“Nearly every way to put Bitcoin to work on-chain today asks the holder to swap it for someone else’s IOU. It’s the reason less than 1% of all Bitcoin held by institutions is earning any yield. vBTC is a game-changer in that regard, and this round funds the custody, exchange and lending rails that will allow institutions to use vBTC and natively turn their Bitcoin into productive financial capital,” stated Brian May, representing the VerifiedX Foundation.
Traditional wrapped Bitcoin tokens typically require a holder to transfer their Bitcoin to a custodian or a small group of collective signers in exchange for an off-chain representation on a different network. Consequently, the reliability of that stand-in asset depends entirely on the entity holding the underlying Bitcoin.
In contrast, vBTC is engineered in reverse. When a user mints a vBTC token, the VerifiedX network establishes a unique native Bitcoin address inside that specific token, allowing the holder to deposit their Bitcoin directly into their own self-custodial address. The Bitcoin remains securely within that address on the native Bitcoin ledger and never leaves the Bitcoin ecosystem. Threshold signatures distributed across VerifiedX validators authorize deposits and withdrawals, ensuring no single entity holds the private key. Alternatively, holders who prefer not to depend on network validators can operate their own and restrict signing exclusively to those validators. Users retain the ability to redeem native Bitcoin at any moment. The vBTC token can be utilized for payments, trading, collateral, lending, or treasury management, while vBTC.b replicates this framework on Base for non-synthetic use within applications on that network.
