Mallers: Bitcoin and AI Could Give Humans Back Their Time

According to Strike CEO Jack Mallers, artificial intelligence and Bitcoin could help people reclaim their time to pursue creative endeavors.

Appearing on Bitcoin Magazine’s premiere television program on Monday, Mallers argued that hard money does not steal people’s energy and time, but instead properly rewards invested time and effort.

“Money broadly is our time and energy in an abstracted form — it is the market good that represents the effort, the labor,” Mallers stated.

“If the money is bad, it’s very destructive to our time and energy: It robs us of our time and energy. You have to work longer and harder to get a house; you have to work longer and harder to get a vacation. You have to work longer and harder to have hours to pursue your artistic interests.”

“And if the money is good, it actually gives you and rewards back time and energy,” he added, noting that AI and Bitcoin can liberate humanity from the burdensome drudgery associated with poor monetary systems.

To illustrate his point, Mallers referenced the inventors of the airplane, the Wright brothers, noting that they developed their invention while the United States utilized a gold standard.

These remarks from Mallers follow a remarkable performance by Bitcoin, which achieved a roughly 25% increase in August for its top-performing month of 2026, marking its initial positive August since 2021 and finishing the month close to $78,000.

That market surge came on the heels of U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent increasing long-dated bond buybacks, which decreased yields and sparked billions of dollars in short liquidations.

Following the announcement, the debasement trade re-emerged as a major topic of discussion, a strategy where investors purchase assets such as bitcoin or gold to protect against currency depreciation.

The U.S. dollar experienced a decline following the Treasury’s buyback initiative and the simultaneous disclosure that national debt had reached $40 trillion.

Commenting on the condition of the American economy, Mallers stated: “This level of debt is unsustainable, so when people debate, oh well, what if they hike rates? What if they cut rates? It doesn’t matter: it’s all inflationary and it’s all untenable.”

Figures published on Friday indicated that the consumer price index, omitting food and energy, rose 0.3% in August compared to the previous month, exceeding expectations.

With the United States currently facing an affordability crisis and surging oil prices, the Federal Reserve is broadly anticipated to implement interest rate hikes this week in an effort to control inflation.
