Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy has returned to profitability after surging cryptocurrency prices generated $21 billion in paper gains during the previous quarter, according to founder and chairman Michael Saylor.
As revealed in a Monday filing, the Nasdaq-listed enterprise invested $28.7 million to acquire 334 bitcoins last week. Following an initial morning spike in New York trading hours, shares of MSTR experienced a minor decline and were recently trading nearly 2% higher.
During the third quarter of this year, the price of bitcoin surged by more than 40%, marking its strongest quarterly performance in years.
The leading digital asset recently traded close to $85,655, holding steady over the past 24 hours while registering an increase of over 8% across a 30-day window.
In addition to its crypto holdings, Strategy reported the repurchase of $176 million of its STRC preferred shares. As the preeminent corporate holder of bitcoin globally, the business maintains a reserve of 848,000 BTC, which carries an approximate value of $72.6 billion at current market prices.
The enterprise’s stock previously suffered declines following the sharp drop in bitcoin prices that occurred at the end of 2025 and throughout the first half of this year.
Market participants purchase Strategy shares to gain amplified exposure to the digital currency. Shareholders can also earn yields through the company’s digital credit offerings.
Formerly known as MicroStrategy, the firm moderated its acquisition pace after launching an initiative allowing it to sell bitcoin periodically. The program is designed to yield up to $1.25 billion for its USD reserve, cover interest expenses, support preferred stock dividends, and fund share buybacks.
Earlier this year, the corporation was forced to sell portions of its bitcoin holdings. Strategy leadership has since defended these transactions, with CEO Phong Le informing investors that the organization now maintains a “bullet-proof balance sheet.”
While Strategy disclosed an $8.22 billion loss during its July quarterly earnings report, Le maintained that investors had no cause for concern regarding the firm’s paper losses at the time.
